Back again
in Los Angeles together-2006
Goin'
back a few years! I couldn't help reflect on
two of the most memorable days of my life. A
trip to Disneyland in 2000 and a visit to Magic
Mountain in 2001. Erin helped me to truly live
life again even if it was one rollercoaster
ride at a time! Thank you Angel for inspiring
me in the most humble way possible! I remember
the 'old times' and welcome the new!

ANGELS
Angels are the guardians of hope and wonder,
the keepers of magic and dreams. Wherever there
is love, an angel is flying by. Your guardian
angel knows you inside and out, and loves you
just the way you are. Angels keep it simple
and always travel light. Remember to leave space
in your relationships so the angels have room
to play. Your guardian angel helps you find
a place when you feel there is no place to go.
Whenever you feel lonely, a special angel drops
in for tea. Angels are with you every step of
the way and help you soar with amazing grace.
After all, we are angels in training; all we
have to do is spread our wings and fly!

In
1999, I started speaking for the
Peer Education Program of Los Angeles,
PEP/LA. I was immediately inspired
by the dedication and passion and
kindness of Ms. Erin Kandel. Erin
has run in TWO National AIDS Marathons.
She has volunteered countless hours
and years to peer education since
being in junior high and has remained
steadfast to her commitment no matter
what. She is so committed to this
disease and the loss of her friends
and keeping their memory alive.
In fact, she went so far as to acquire
two Master's Degrees in Public Health
and is now working for the county
of Los Angeles in HIV prevention.
She continues volunteering her time
and energy with the Peer Education
Program of Los Angeles as well.
Erin has been such a source of strength
and inspiration for me. She has
been with me through thick and thin
and her unconditional love for me
has no value. I am blessed and grateful
beyond words for having such a passionate
and beautiful friend these last
6 years. You are nothing short of
an amazing young woman!

"Erin
Kandel, started volunteering as a peer educator
with PEP LA when she was 14. Kandel said
the program raised her self-esteem and improved
her public-speaking skills while igniting
a passion to educate teens about HIV and
AIDS. "It's become my life's work," she
said. "Ever since I was 14 years old, my
life's path kind of made itself, and I feel
really fortunate." She said the peer educators
she trained this summer have developed tremendous
compassion and have the tools to teach people
how to avoid the virus."
